For me, this day is always a day of both reflection and celebration. I've written a meditation as a guide if you'd like to consider a brief practice for the end of 2016. There is also an audio attached if you prefer to listen.
Set aside 10 minutes in a space that is quiet and condusive to inner focus.
Find a comfortable seat and have a journal/paper and something to write with nearby.
Take a few moments to be with your breath resting your mind in the arms of your heart.
Center yourself and allow your breath to bring you deeper into your body/mind.
Close your eyes and open your inner vision to reflect on 2016.
Embody a witness consciousness and observe the year as a slide show.
Notice any experiences or adventures that come to mind.. Experiences of enjoyment, pleasure, contentment and celebration as well as sadness, loss, regret, and disappointment…allow all that was part of your year. Become aware of sensations, feelings, and thoughts that come along with those memories and allow them move through you with your breath. Let the energy keep flowing...trust the rising and fading of memories in whatever order they organically appear. In the next few moments reflect month by month and see if anything else rises to consciousness. Perhaps it was a difficult and challenging year, maybe it was a wonderful year of unleashed potential, abundance, and realized dreams...simply breathe to it all...continue until your mind empties allowing for a deep quiet...enjoy the quiet of your breathing and the connection to your self. Whatever 2016 was for you embrace it, celebrate and bless your successes as well as your struggles and loses…. lift all your experiences up, and embody the lessons you've learned about about the cycles of your life…breathe yourself to the present moment…open your eyes and take a few moments to journal if you’re called to do so.
