Today we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. We celebrate his message, his life, and the way he brought change to our country. When I was growing up there were pivotal moments in history that made me stop and listen. Mr. Kings message was one of them. As I sit today to write this blog those messages continue to be relevant.
We have a long way to go before there is truthful balance in how we live with others who come from different races, religious beliefs, and various cultural practices. As a holistic health care provider my belief is that the change begins in each one of us first and we bring those changes out into our world.
A few considerations for contemplation today as we honor the abundant Spirit of this extraordinary man. The following are some of my favorite Martin Luther King Jr. quotes.
They resonate with my body-mind-spirit and deep in my heart! Take a few moments to consider each one and see if they call you to action in your life.
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
What is it you need to speak up about?
"If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk, If you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward."
What's one small step you can take toward creating change?
"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."
"Believe in yourself."
"We must build dikes of courage to hold back the fear."
"Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend."
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
"I have a dream..."
What is your dream?
God Bless Your messages of truth Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr!
Blessings of peace on your day,
