A beautiful summer shifts sweetly into September. This time of year brings memories of shorter days, changing schedules, and an opportunity to contemplate a creative balance between doing and being. Recently, I've been asked how I stay in balance in the midst of family responsibilities, self-care rituals, running a private practice, commuting, etc. For me, balance is a momentary experience of ease rather than a rigid prescription or structure. Creating balance requires F-A-I-T-H (flexibility, awareness, initiation, time, and humility). Flexibility allows the opening for me to consider the changes that will suit my current circumstances. Awareness requires turning inward with a compassionate presence to listen to which seeds I want to water. Initiation calls for a watering can as I implement the new changes. Time, truly accepting the time it takes to do all the doing. Humility is beginning again.. allowing more time for being which increases creativity, peace, and joy. So there you have it. For me, balance is an ongoing process of "FAITH", staying mindful of what brings me alive, honestly honoring my body's limits, and being actively committed to living a nourishing life.
What creates balance for you? Take a moment to contemplate and see if "FAITH" makes sense for you.
Blessings of ease in your body-mind and spirit,
